He is Risen…A guest post

I am delighted to bring to you this guest post written by my dearest friend and fellow contemplative Reverend Mother Angie McLachlan. We met a few years ago on an intensive New Testament Greek course in Salisbury and recognising the mystic impulse at work in each other we pretty much instantly became firm friends from the outset.

As the Archbishop of The Province of Britain and  Ireland of the Liberal Catholic Church International, The Most Reverend Angie writes a blog post every Sunday on her website and I look forward to reading them.  This Sunday was especially both inspiring and inspired and I asked permission to share it here as it speaks so wonderfully of the Cosmic Christ. I do hope you enjoy this piece as much as I did.

The Second Sunday after Easter

The Sun Draws all creation to Himself
Rising Higher , coaxing plants to sprout their leaves
from buds once tightened against the snow.
Raising our weary eyes upwards
bathing pale winter faces in warmth and Light.
He is risen and the secrets of the Universe
play forward in another circuit…

The Sun draws all creation to himself
Rising higher, coaxing animals to sniff and strut
from layers and burrows to meet their mate.
Rising on wings into the dawn
hopping into pools of liquid gold
He is Risen and the secrets of the Universe
play forward in another circuit…

The Son draws all creation to Himself
Rising higher, coaxing hearts to burst open
from bodies once tightened against the world.
Raising our hopeful eyes upwards
igniting the Light of Love in our souls
He is Risen and the secrets of the Universe
play forward in another circuit.

The great mystery there for us to see
gifted in Sun-light.

As we stay close to home, venturing out only for essentials – I pray that we may find comfort, hope and inspiration by looking at the natural world around us. Stay safe and be blessed by small things – small things also contain the Universe.
+Mother Angie

  1. That was absolutely beautiful. Tempted to request permission to share on my thought for the day, on Friday but will cherish it alone, right now. 🙏
